Azure Databases – Set New Owner

The database servers at NSWERS are accessed almost exclusively through Microsoft Entra IDs (both in Azure GCC and in Azure Commercial).

To set a new owner, with full control of managing the settings, granting permissions, and updating databases within that server:

• Log into the Azure portal that contains the server: Commercial or GCC.
• Find the database to change; typically this would be listed under SQL servers.
• In the navigation blade, expand Settings and then click on Microsoft Entra ID.
• At the top of the page, click on Set admin.

NOTE: depending on the user’s permission, this action may need to be performed by ITS (or permission granted by ITS to perform this action).
